*Disclaimer: The Tinkle Belle I’m reviewing was gifted to me after I mentioned on social media how intimidating these devices seemed. The people at https://thetinklebelle.com/ didn’t ask for anything in return and aren’t aware I’m writing this review. I hope they don’t mind. After some practice and a real-life trail test, I’ve added it to my hiking kit.*
I hope I’m not the only woman who found female urination devices (FUDs) intimidating. Seeing them on my social feeds made me anxious, thinking of all the things that could go wrong. I’m not the most graceful person, so the potential for disaster felt very real.
I had so many questions. How does it work? Will it be messy? What if I can’t figure it out? What if I mess up and have to walk back in wet clothes? These thoughts raced through my mind until I shared my concerns on social media. Surprisingly, the kind people behind The Tinkle Belle offered to send me one to try. I hate having to find a secluded bush to crouch behind when hiking so I had to say yes.
I’ll be honest, when I received The Tinkle Belle, it sat on my counter for a few days because I was nervous. In the end I had to try it since they were so kind to give me one as a gift. To avoid making a mess, I first practiced in the shower. And guess what? It was surprisingly easy to use! They have a great instructional video that walks you through the whole process.
Feeling more confident after a couple practice runs, I took The Tinkle Belle on a hike last weekend. It was just as easy to use outside my shower lol. No more awkward squatting behind bushes or worrying about finding a spot for me. This device now has a permenant place in my hiking gear.

My Experience With The Tinker Belle
Practicing In The Shower
After overcoming my initial jitters and delaying out of nervousness, I eventually had to try it. Before testing it outdoors, I practiced at home in the shower. It seemed like the perfect place to get familiar with it without risk of making a mess.
First, I read the instructions and watched an instructional video they shared. Both were straightforward and eased my anxiety. It didn’t take long to find the right way to lean and arch to create a good seal. After stressing about it for so long, I was shocked at how natural it felt after only a couple tries.
I’m still glad I tried it in the shower the first time, but I think I would have been ok using it outside too. I won’t claim my first attempts were perfect but honestly I’ve made a bigger mess the old way.
My Field Test
A few days ago, I finally tried it out in the wild. I used the toilet at the trailhead since the trail was crowded. As expected, it worked just fine. I was worried it might be different since I wasn’t fully undressed, but it wasn’t. Cleaning, drying, and storing the device was easy and quick. I didn’t time myself but I think it was about as fast as using the toilet normally. Plus, since it was one of those awful pit toilets I love that I didn’t have to try and hover above it while peeing.
My Final Verdict 👍👍
After some training and using it in the wild The Tinkle Belle has won me over. It’s the first device of it’s kind that I’ve ever used so I can’t compare it to alternatives, but I’m really impressed. It’s now a part of my hiking bag and I’m considering buying another so I can have one in my travel bag. Here’s why:
First, the ease of use is really impressive. From practicing in the shower to the successful field test, the device is super user-friendly. Its intuitive design made the transition from traditional methods to using a FUD painless.
The compact and portable nature of The Tinkle Belle is another huge plus. It folds neatly and fits into its discreet carrying case, making it easy to pack in my backpack. The medical-grade silicone feels comfortable and sturdy, assuring me of its durability. It’s small and light enough that I didn’t feel the need to remove anything when I added it to my pack.
What stands out most is the confidence it provides. Knowing I can handle bathroom breaks quickly and hygienically will improve my outdoor experiences. No more stress about finding a private spot or dealing with messy situations. The Tinkle Belle delivers on its promise of convenience and reliability.
Where To Get Yours
There are two places I would recommend buying from. The first is directly from their website at https://thetinklebelle.com/. When I was shopping for a different colored case I saw some sales there that I didn’t see on Amazon so I would start there. If you like you can also purchase through our Amazon affiliate link where we will make a very small commission.
Conclusion
Overall, The Tinkle Belle has surpassed my expectations. It’s a practical, well-designed solution for women who love the outdoors. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a casual camper, I highly recommend trying The Tinkle Belle. It’s a game-changer that enhances outdoor adventures.
To all the adventurous ladies out there, don’t let the fear of using a FUD hold you back. With The Tinkle Belle, you can embrace the convenience and get back to exploring the great outdoors with confidence!
Happy hiking, and see you on the trails!
